Shoreham WordFest is a group of local writers and literaty enthusiasts, whose aim is to celebrate words: written, spoken or sung.
WordFest 2012 runs from 25 September to 7 October in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. There are a range of events to suit all tastes, encouraging new writing and celebrating the plentiful local talent. This year’s WordFest features nationally renowned authors such as Simon Brett, Alexander McCall Smith and Brian Moses, along with innovative new writers such as Sue Walker, Sally O’Reilly and blockbuster novelist Pam Weaver, who will read and discuss their novels on Saturday September 29th.
There will be two special events on the Verda Houseboat featuring story telling, folk music and vocal theatre.
For whose who appreciate short stories and good writing, then come along to the Rattle Tales event on Saturday October 6th, where writers will read their stories and the audience can rattle their approval or challenge the authors. On Sunday October 7th there will be a fast and furious Slam competition where local writers read short stories or poems for a maximum of 5 minutes before a panel of judges including novelist Jan Henley and performance poet Geoff Allnutt. Shoreham-by-sea is ca 30 minutes by bus from Sea Spray Hotel.
