This classic love story gets a modern make over as Danish dance star Peter Schaufuss Ballet revives Frederick Ashton’s seminal production.
Ashton, co-founder of Britain’s Royal Ballet, first
staged his Romeo and Juliet for the Royal Danish Ballet in 1955. Since then it has graced the world’s premier stages from the New York Met to the London Coliseum with its fusion of Shakespeare’s text, Prokofiev’s music and Ashton’s intimate choreography.
Now, the Olivier Award-winning Danish choreographer/director Peter Schaufuss brings this captivating production bang up-to-date.
