Olympic Torch Relay in Brighton and Hove on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th of July!

The Olympic Torch Relay arrives on Monday 16 July and leaves the next day, Tuesday 17 July.

The 2012 Summer Olympics torch relay is in progress, running from 19 May – 27 July 2012, prior to the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The Olympic Torch Relay will enter the city at Hove at 5.55pm on Monday 16 July. The flame will arrive in the official convoy vehicles and be transferred to the first of the city’s torchbearers at King George VI Avenue.

Early on Tuesday 17 July, the Olympic Flame will emerge from Brighton’s iconic Royal Pavilion to be transferred to the first Torch of the day.

Early on Tuesday 17 July, the Olympic Flame will emerge from Brighton’s iconic Royal Pavilion to be transferred to the first Torch of the day. The torchbearers will carry the flame to the edge of the city, travelling along the A23.

  • The first Torch is lit in the gardens on the east side of the Pavilion (viewing from the road near the Old Steine will be possible)
  • Pavilion Gardens
  • On path through India Gate
  • North Street
  • Old Steine (5 minutes in walking to Sea Spray)
  • Church Street
  • Marlborough Place
  • Preston Road
  • Preston Park (suitable for disabled viewing)
  • London Road
